Hong Kong bus driver suspended after video shows hands-free driving

A Hong Kong bus driver was suspended after a video showed him driving without hands on the steering wheel. The Kowloon Motor Bus company acted quickly following the incident on Thursday morning.

A 17-second video filmed from another vehicle captured the driver releasing the steering wheel on a moving bus. He used his left hand to touch his right wrist and fingers instead. The incident took place around 9am on Thursday and involved an empty bus.

KMB confirmed the event and stated it had immediately suspended the driver from duty. The company launched an investigation into the driver's conduct.

A KMB spokesman said the firm is highly concerned and will impose disciplinary action if regulatory violations are confirmed. The driver would also be required to undergo mandatory retraining.
