ICANN opens applications for custom domains after 14 years

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has started accepting applications for new top-level domains. This marks the first opportunity in 14 years for individuals and groups to secure custom internet addresses.

ICANN opened the application window on May 9. The process gives users a rare chance to own a piece of the internet's domain system through custom top-level domains.
