On June 17 and 20 2026, parents of pupils in Nantes installed survival blankets and painted windows to combat heat in public schools.
Parents hung survival blankets on the windows of the Marie-Anne du Boccage school and painted the glass with white Meudon white. These actions aim to lower the temperature in the classrooms.
One father said: “This has been reported for several years that the school is an oven”. He noted there is only one small fan per class for 27 pupils.
The parents acted without seeking authorization from authorities, denouncing a lack of equipment amid the heatwave.
