The Independent National Electoral Commission has extended the Continuous Voter Registration exercise by two weeks and introduced a self-service online option.
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced the extension on Friday night in Abuja. The deadline moves from 10 July to 24 July 2026.
National Commissioner Mohammed Kudu Haruna said the decision followed feedback from state offices, political parties and civil society organisations. The exercise began on 18 August 2025.
INEC will also launch a self-service registration portal on 8 July 2026 at cvr.inecnigeria.org. Eligible citizens can complete registration including biometric capture from their own devices.
The commission urged Nigerians yet to register to use the extra time and new technology.
