Tiffani Huff Holmes, 41, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after her 3-year-old son died in a hot garage at their home in Bondurant, Iowa. The plea came more than a year after the June 2025 incident.
Holmes entered the plea to the aggravated misdemeanor charge in Polk County court. She had originally faced a felony count of child endangerment resulting in death.
The boy died on June 28, 2025, after being left in a closed garage on a day when outside temperatures reached 91 degrees. Holmes told investigators she had been napping and could not recall how long she slept.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 28 and faces up to two years in prison. Court records show Holmes waited five to 10 minutes after finding the boy before calling 911.
