Konami has filed a lawsuit seeking to uncover the identities of those responsible for leaking source code and other materials from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The complaint was filed on June 2 in California’s Central District Court.
The lawsuit targets unknown individuals referred to as Does and references the involvement of pixeldrain.com, buzzheavier.com, and 4chan in hosting the leaked files. Konami is asking the court to order the sites to provide information that could identify the original posters.
The leaked materials included unauthorized copies of the source code, non-public assets, internal development documents, and an unreleased port of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for the Nintendo Wii. Files in the leak were dated from 2007.
Konami stated that it successfully had the materials removed from the sites but has been unable to obtain identifying details about those responsible. The game was produced by Hideo Kojima and first released more than 20 years ago.
