A 911 call placed the day before Kyle Busch's death detailed his struggle with shortness of breath and coughing blood at a North Carolina training facility. The NASCAR driver collapsed in a simulator session and later died at age 41. Tributes followed from the racing community.
The emergency call came around 5:30 PM on a Wednesday from the facility in Concord, North Carolina. A caller told dispatchers Busch was very hot, thought he would pass out and was coughing up blood while still conscious on the bathroom floor. Responders were asked to approach without sirens and meet at a side entrance.
