Lando Norris to incur 10-place grid penalty at Belgian Grand Prix

McLaren driver Lando Norris will take a 10-place grid penalty at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix after the team fitted new Mercedes power unit components to his car. The decision allows the team to upgrade to improved reliability parts.

McLaren confirmed the penalty on Thursday. The team is installing a fourth power electronics unit on Norris's MCL40, exceeding the season allocation.

The move follows reliability issues Norris faced earlier in the season. Mercedes made upgraded components available to McLaren, expected to improve performance.

"We have chosen to do this in Belgium, a circuit where overtaking is relatively more prevalent," the team stated. It plans to use the unit for the rest of the season to maximize reliability.

McLaren will also receive Mercedes' latest internal combustion engine specification after a delay from the supplier.
