The family of a 35-year-old homeless woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Louisville Metro, alleging that a garbage truck's hydraulic claw killed her in February.
Tyrah Adams was lying in a cardboard box near trash in an alley when the truck picked her up, according to the complaint. The suit says workers failed to follow safety protocols and did not see her before operating the claw, known as a knuckle boom. Adams suffered severe injuries and later died from blunt force and compressional trauma, a coroner's report found.
