Charles Leclerc will switch to Lewis Hamilton's brake configuration for this weekend's Formula 1 Barcelona Grand Prix following brake problems during last weekend's Monaco race.
Leclerc crashed out of the Monaco Grand Prix with 14 laps remaining while running in third place. He attributed the incident to brake failure, stating that three of his four brakes were not working properly.
"Out of the four brakes, I had three brakes not working," Leclerc said after the race. "The front left was working well, the front right was half working, and the two rear brakes were not working at all."
Hamilton has used Carbone Industrie brake discs, while Leclerc previously opted for Brembo components. Leclerc tested the Carbone Industrie option at Suzuka but initially kept his original choice. He will now evaluate Hamilton's set-up during FP1 in Barcelona before deciding on further use.
Ferrari plans additional car updates for the event. Leclerc noted that the team decided to align configurations after recent difficulties, saying the change aims to improve manageability without expecting major differences.
