WWE Speed Champion Lexis King addressed challenges as a second-generation wrestler during a recent appearance on Busted Open After Dark.
King, son of the late Brian Pillman, spoke about forming the Birthright faction in NXT with other multi-generation talents including Uriah Connors, Arianna Grace and Charlie Dempsey. He said the group leaned into perceptions of nepotism because fans already knew their family backgrounds. “People hate nepotism. They cry nepotism,” King stated, adding that the wrestlers work twice as hard to reach the level of their parents. King also credited his late-2025 crossover appearances with TNA Wrestling, including a December steel cage match, as the start of his in-ring transformation that carried over to NXT in 2026. He joined WWE in summer 2023 and won the WWE Speed Championship this year.
