The Linda Mwananchi group within ODM plans a major meeting in Thika on June 14 as part of efforts to build itself as a national movement ahead of the 2027 election.
The group associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is directing its efforts to areas that have not traditionally been ODM strongholds. This follows a warm reception in the Ukambani region last weekend. Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi said the goal is to unite Kenyans from all parts of the country. He said after Thika they plan to head to Meru and Eldoret. Political analyst Dr Joshua Wafula said the Thika meeting is strategic because Mt Kenya will continue to be an important area in the presidential election. The group announced in April plans for area assessments and establishing a coordination center for its activities.
