Mamelodi Sundowns have obtained a landing permit in Rabat for their chartered flight to play the second leg of the CAF Champions League final against AS Rabat. The team holds a 1-0 lead from the first leg and is scheduled to arrive this evening.
Mamelodi Sundowns left OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday morning and flew via Gabon despite initially lacking the required landing permit for Morocco. Senior administrator Yugesh Singh told the SABC that the documents arrived 45 minutes before the plane reached Libreville for refuelling.
The side is due to land in Rabat at 11 o’clock this evening before travelling 90 minutes to its base camp. The second leg is set for Sunday with kick-off at 9 PM.
Sundowns aim to protect their narrow advantage and claim continental glory in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
