Mercedes open to team orders to protect race wins

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said the team will prioritize victory over internal battles after Kimi Antonelli won the Belgian Grand Prix. The comments follow frustration from earlier races where wheel-to-wheel fighting cost the team time.

Wolff stated after the race that Mercedes will not allow drivers to lose time fighting each other. He referenced the Barcelona event where Antonelli and George Russell battled for six laps, allowing Lewis Hamilton to gain an advantage.

"We are not going to lose time with each other," Wolff said. "We don't want any yo-yoing and then have a Ferrari or a Red Bull breathing down our neck and losing a victory, as it happened in Barcelona."

Russell echoed the view that the team win takes priority when another constructor poses a threat. Antonelli claimed victory in the Belgian Grand Prix, marking Mercedes' eighth win of the season.
