New York Mets right-hander Nolan McLean allowed seven runs over 3 2/3 innings in a 7-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field on Monday afternoon. Outfielder Juan Soto missed his second straight game due to flu-like symptoms.
McLean struck out the side in the first inning but gave up two runs in the second on a groundout and a wild pitch. JJ Bleday hit a solo homer in the third, and the Reds added four runs in the fourth, including a two-run homer by Tyler Stephenson. McLean's ERA rose from 3.57 to 4.40 after the shortest start of his career.
