Mike D to release debut solo album Thank You

Mike D of the Beastie Boys will release his first solo album, Thank You, on August 28 via Fontana. The project marks the first full-length release from any Beastie Boy since 2011.

The announcement comes after Mike D issued two singles last month and performed a series of low-key shows in the UK with his Mike D 5D band. A third single, “True Colors,” is now available to stream. In a press release, Mike D said, “It’s been so much fun making this music with people I love and I have grown to really appreciate in our collaboration. And I just hope it’s fun for others and not overly serious, because let’s be real, I’m releasing this music into a very strange and dark and power-fixated world that really devalues art and feelings and compassion and empathy and equality.” The 13-track album opens with the previously released “Switch Up” and closes with the title song. Other tracks include “What We Got,” “Secrets Pt. I,” “Crypto,” and “Back to Start.”
