Modo recorded a deficit of 2.8 million kronor for the season that ended with a semifinal exit in HockeyAllsvenskan. CEO Johan Widebro described the steps taken to control spending without major cuts.
The club released its financial results on Friday. Widebro told Örnsköldsviks Allehanda that the organization used careful adjustments rather than drastic reductions.
"Nu har vi haft osthyvel och Morakniv framme, för tio år sedan var det yxan," Widebro said. He added that staff reductions are not planned but future actions will depend on ticket revenue.
Modo had aimed for a quick return to the SHL after relegation but finished the campaign with a semifinal loss to BIK Karlskoga. The team remains in HockeyAllsvenskan for 2026/27.
Widebro noted that the men's squad still ranks among the top three in player budget within the league while the women's team sits in the top five in the SDHL.
