Nintendo's clarification addressed interpretations that physical prices were rising, stating: 'The cost of physical games is not going up. This means that when Nintendo sells digital versions of Nintendo published games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 to consumers in the US, those prices will have an MSRP that is lower than their physical counterparts.' Retailers set their own prices.
The change, announced March 25, breaks from past parity and aligns with rising digital sales. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is the first title, launching May 21. Earlier games like Mario Kart World are unaffected. This follows initial confusion over pre-order listings.
