Pink will host the 79th Annual Tony Awards on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall. The Grammy-winning singer announced the news in a playful Instagram video, where she dressed as a 1920s flapper and sneaked onto a Broadway stage. Organizers selected her despite her lack of Broadway performance experience.
Pink shared the hosting announcement on Instagram, joking about her Broadway credentials. In the video, she declares, “Now, I’ve been on Broadway. Now, I can host the Tonys,” after briefly stepping onstage before being escorted away. Her caption reads, “When I was asked to host @thetonyawards, my first question was — don’t you need to have been on Broadway for this? So I went ahead and fixed that. Kind of. And now I’m hosting the Tony Awards!!” She praised the Broadway community as “the hardest working in showbiz,” adding, “They show up every single night, sometimes twice, and make absolute magic. I cannot wait to celebrate them all with you.”
