Premier Jumping League secures FEI approval ahead of 2027 launch

The Premier Jumping League has received official series approval from the FEI, confirming its format, rules and $1 million prize money per event. The $300 million series is set to begin next March.

The FEI granted approval at its board meeting held from 30 June to 1 July. This decision formally sanctions the league's structure, team format and rider selection process.

PJL chief executive Neil Moffitt described the move as a major milestone. He said the league aims to present the sport with integrity while creating greater opportunities for participants.

Each fixture will feature a seeding class on day one, followed by team competition on day two and a 1.60m final class on day three offering $700,000 in prize money. Sixteen teams of five salaried riders will compete, with three riding at each event.

The series is backed by Frank McCourt and McCourt Global. The first team was sold for $50 million this week, with venues still to be announced.
