The Colorado Rockies defeated the Miami Marlins 14-4 on Thursday at Coors Field. The win came after the Rockies scored seven runs in the sixth inning to pull away.
The Rockies lineup produced early and often. Jake McCarthy, Mickey Moniak, TJ Rumfield and Willi Castro combined for eight hits in 14 at-bats with nine RBIs in the first six innings.
Mickey Moniak homered in the first inning for the third straight game against Miami, added a double in the third and a single in the sixth. He scored three runs and drove in two. The sixth-inning outburst featured six singles, a walk, a hit batsman and a sacrifice fly.
Michael Lorenzen started for Colorado but left after 4 1/3 innings with six walks and four earned runs allowed. Relievers Brennan Bernardino, Victor Vodnik and Zach Agnos then pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings. Miami used position player Javier Sanoja to pitch the eighth inning.
