President William Ruto has reappointed former Kajiado governor David Nkedianye as non-executive chairperson of the Wildlife Research and Training Institute board.
The appointment, announced in a gazette notice dated May 29, 2026, gives Nkedianye a fresh three-year term ending in 2029. It was made under section 53(1)(a) of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act.
Nkedianye served as Kajiado County's first governor from 2013 to 2017. He later contested the position unsuccessfully in 2017 and 2022.
The reappointment forms part of broader adjustments in state agencies ahead of the 2027 General Elections. Nkedianye is also positioning himself for the Kajiado Senate seat while it remains unclear if he will continue in the board role or pursue elective politics.
