Luciana Lixandru, a partner at Sequoia, expressed optimism about European startups in an interview published on June 20.
The investor has backed companies including Deliveroo, UiPath, robotics firm Robco and Berlin defense startup Stark. She noted that the European market has matured and founders have become more ambitious.
Lixandru said: “We must be patient, keep pushing, maintain a good attitude and not constantly compare ourselves with the USA.” Europe has already built companies worth more than ten billion dollars.
She sees particular potential in the defense sector. Regarding Stark she said the company could become a consolidator over time. Due to her German husband, Lixandru is currently learning German.
