Jannik Sinner, the defending champion, will enter Wimbledon without recent match practice on grass. The world No. 1 has expressed confidence in his fitness despite a recent French Open exit.
Sinner told Vogue he expects early challenges. “I haven’t played any matches on grass, so the first match—or the first few matches—are going to be difficult,” he said. He added that adapting could restore his feel for the surface.
The Italian skipped all grass-court tournaments after a three-week break following Roland Garros. He instead trained at the All England Club with Arthur Fils and used a Continuous Glucose Monitor to monitor recovery.
Sinner said his approach remains unchanged. “We don’t defend, we always try to go for it,” he noted. He holds a 20-4 record at Wimbledon and aims to join the small group of players who have defended the title.
