Prime Minister Kim Min-seok called on China to play a positive role in creating conditions for inter-Korean and U.S.-North Korea talks during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on June 23 in Dalian.
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok made the remarks during talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, also known as the Summer Davos Forum, in the Chinese city of Dalian.
Kim expressed hope that the Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping, would play a role on Korean Peninsula issues, citing Xi's recent visit to Pyongyang. He also noted that resuming dialogue with North Korea is crucial for peace and stability.
On other matters, Kim asked for an early Chinese delegation visit regarding investment in the Saemangeum project and announced an extension of the temporary visa waiver program for Chinese travelers until December. Li expressed willingness to build trust and expand cooperation, including in semiconductors. The meeting was the first prime minister-level talks between the two countries since 2019.
