Square Enix will close the servers for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis on October 6. The mobile and PC game launched in 2023 and blended stories from the Final Fantasy VII series.
Producer Shoichi Ichikawa said the decision followed difficulty balancing production costs with player demand for character weapons and gear.
Players have until the October shutdown to complete new content. The team plans to rerun past events and release a final story chapter.
The game had generated over $100 million by late 2024, with most revenue from Japan. It never built a sustained player base despite early earnings.
