Stellantis has launched a labor adjustment at its Villaverde factory with an ERE for 175 workers and an ERTE for 89 more. The move comes as negotiations advance to transfer the plant to Chinese partner Leapmotor.
The company justifies the cuts by a downward revision of production forecasts and reduced workload expected in coming years. The voluntary or negotiated layoffs process will begin negotiations with unions this Friday.
A complementary ERTE will affect 89 employees between August and year-end. The two Leapmotor D-SUV models will be built at the plant under European standards.
Mariano Hoya of FICA-UGT stated that the plant's future is assured by the new projects. The restructuring will not impact the Vigo plant.
