A frontal system has caused damage to homes and affected people between the La Araucanía and Los Lagos regions, with precipitation set to return in the coming days.
According to SENAPRED's report, the event has left 20 people homeless and 64 isolated. Housing damage includes 54 minor cases, four major cases, three destroyed and 46 under evaluation.
The most affected communes include Corral with 300 millimeters of rain, Pucón with 138 millimeters and Valdivia with 215 millimeters. Route disruptions, power outages and school suspensions were recorded in the area.
Local authorities such as Villarrica's acting mayor Paulina Lavado and Los Ríos presidential delegate Vicky Carrasco confirmed mitigation work ahead of a new frontal system expected from Friday.
Meteorologist Arnaldo Zúñiga of the DMC noted that precipitation could extend from Monday for at least 48 hours, with amounts exceeding 100 millimeters in Pucón.
