Supriya Ganesh has spoken publicly about leaving the HBO Max drama The Pitt before its third season. The actor, who portrayed Dr. Samira Mohan for two seasons, described the decision as a creative choice by the show's executive producers.
Ganesh said the exit was determined by executive producers R. Scott Gemmill, Noah Wyle, and John Wells. In comments to the Los Angeles Times, Ganesh stated that the producers make choices with intention and suggested asking them for further details. Ganesh expressed appreciation for the experience, noting plans to treasure memories from working with co-stars and the crew. The actor also mentioned receiving positive messages from fans and feeling surprise at how deeply viewers connected with the character. Gemmill told TVLine that such departures reflect the natural turnover at a teaching hospital setting. He described Samira as skilled with patients but slower in the fast-paced ER environment, adding that the character is simply not working the shift shown in the upcoming season due to its four-month time jump. Ayesha Harris, previously a recurring cast member as Dr. Parker Ellis, has been promoted to series regular in Ganesh's absence.
