A Swedish volunteer was lightly injured by shrapnel in a drone attack at a gas station in Ukraine's Poltava region on Friday evening. The volunteer was part of an aid group from the organization Skicka vidare till Ukraina delivering supplies.
The attack was carried out by Russian Shahed drones, according to reports. The group was at the gas station after a delivery when the drones struck. Six people were injured in total, according to Ukrainian media.
Kristina Leivik, co-founder of Skicka vidare till Ukraina, said the volunteer is doing well and will see a doctor but will not be hospitalized. The group provided first aid to other injured people at the scene.
The volunteers, on their 31st trip, have now moved west for safety and debriefing. Leivik said the incident makes the group even more motivated to continue helping Ukraine.
