A 37-year-old Tennessee man faces second-degree murder charges after allegedly stabbing his father during a family argument in Kingsport. Levi Carter was arrested following a multi-state police chase and now awaits further court proceedings.
The incident took place on June 8 at the Carter family home on Hickory Street. Authorities say Levi Carter attacked his 51-year-old father, Anthony Carter, with a pocketknife before fleeing in a red Ford F-150.
Kingsport police issued a warrant the next day describing the suspect as armed and dangerous. Levi Carter was taken into custody on June 10 in nearby Church Hill.
During questioning, the suspect described an argument over father-son matters that escalated when Anthony Carter made a comment that prompted the stabbing, according to Detective William Clare. Levi Carter is next scheduled to appear in court on October 14 and remains held on a $500,000 bond.
