AMC's adaptation of Anne Rice's vampire saga returned Sunday with a new title and narrator. The third season, now called The Vampire Lestat, shifts focus to the title character on a rock tour.
The season opened on June 7 with Lestat de Lioncourt played by Sam Reid taking over as narrator. He launches a multi-city rock tour in spring 2025 while inviting journalist Daniel to document his life. Lestat rejects an invitation from a vampire coven after a Detroit concert. The decision leads to violence that leaves several coven members dead in a hotel. The episode ends with Lestat reuniting with Gabrielle played by Jennifer Ehle. He greets her as fledgling lover and mother before they share a kiss. Executive producer Hannah Moscovitch said the change in narrator allows Lestat to confront memories through his art rather than avoid them as Louis did in prior seasons.
