WWE Women’s US Champion Tiffany Stratton has explained how her gymnastics background gave her an advantage when moving into professional wrestling.
Stratton said during an interview with KARE 11 News that gymnastics provided a strong foundation for the physical demands of the ring.
“I would say that it was a lot easier for me than other people, just because gymnastics gives you such a good foundation,” she stated. She added that the sport builds the ability to move, flip, and maintain body awareness, skills she believes translate directly to pro wrestling.
Stratton, who trained with Ken Anderson before debuting in WWE in 2021, pointed to other former gymnasts in the industry such as Sol Ruca and Kelani Jordan. She also recommended the activity for children, noting it develops coordination useful in many fields.
Her title reign began on the April 24 episode of SmackDown after defeating Giulia. She has since defended the championship against Kiana James, Lash Legend, and Jade Cargill at Night of Champions on June 27.
