A 29-year-old man and his partner were charged on Wednesday with organized murder following a fatal shooting at a drug dealing spot in Toulouse on Saturday evening.
The shooting took place Saturday evening in the Izards district. A gunman arrived at a square with a known drug dealing spot and fired at least four shots toward a group. The victim, a 22-year-old Algerian national, died after a single bullet pierced his aorta, according to the autopsy conducted on Tuesday.
Toulouse prosecutor David Charmatz said the suspect, who has 13 prior convictions with more than half related to drug trafficking, had been under specific surveillance for about a month. He was arrested within an hour and found with a hood and gloves bearing gunshot residue. Matching cartridges were discovered at his home.
The couple also faces charges of attempted murder in an organized gang, criminal conspiracy, and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. The prosecutor noted that the first quarter of 2026 saw as many organized-crime killings and attempts in Toulouse as in Marseille over the same period.
