A train has collided with a passenger car near national road 70 in Leksand on Sunday. The driver in the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The traffic stop between Tällberg and Gagnef has been lifted.
The alarm about the accident came in just before 1 PM. According to police a single driver was in the car and got out on their own but had pain in the arm and shoulder. The car was completely destroyed while the locomotive sustained only minor damage.
Seven units from rescue services, police and ambulance worked at the scene. Rescue services estimated the work would take about two hours. The Swedish Transport Administration halted all train traffic between Tällberg and Gagnef during that time.
Police have filed a report to investigate whether the driver committed a crime or offense at the unguarded railway crossing. Dan Olofsson at SJ’s press office said traffic would resume as soon as the Transport Administration gave clearance.
