President Donald Trump’s job approval rating stands at 36% in a new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll conducted June 8-11, 2026, with 59% disapproving. The survey also finds roughly six in 10 Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy, amid persistent worries about costs such as gas and groceries.
The latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll found Trump underwater overall, with 36% approving of his job performance and 59% disapproving.
On the economy, the poll shows broad dissatisfaction: six in ten Americans disapprove of how Trump is handling it, including 22% of Republicans, 65% of Independents and 93% of Democrats.
Regina Kulenga, a 36-year-old Trump voter in Georgia, told NPR she has grown frustrated by what she sees as a lack of progress on prices and economic promises. “The economy is suffering a lot right now,” she said, adding that she feels conditions are getting “a lot worse than what they were.”
Not all views were uniformly negative. Greg Votel, a 68-year-old retired law enforcement officer in Minnesota, defended Trump in comments to NPR and argued that changes take time. “It doesn’t happen overnight,” he said.
