Two men, including a 15-year-old minor, were brought before the Toulon prosecutor on Monday after being suspected of starting several deliberate fires in Cuers and Ollioules.
The two suspects were arrested on 25 July by gendarmes and police. The minor is accused of lighting two fires on 10 and 11 July near his home in Cuers, burning 600 square metres of vegetation. He admitted using a cigarette then a lighter.
The 39-year-old man was detained in Ollioules after setting fire to 40 square metres of vegetation near a supermarket. He claimed the act was accidental but was placed in provisional detention.
Prosecutor Raphaël Balland stated that any intentional fire will be brought before judges. The adult will appear in immediate proceedings on 29 July while the minor will be tried on 22 October.
