A 23-year-old Utah man faces charges of aggravated murder after allegedly stabbing a 28-year-old acquaintance to death outside his Springville home early on July 11.
Springville Police responded to a reported stabbing at about 3:15 a.m. on July 11. Officers found the victim in critical condition and transported him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Authorities arrested Jaxson Clift without incident with assistance from the Utah County Major Crimes Unit and the Metro SWAT Team. He faces one count each of aggravated murder, aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, and criminal mischief.
A probable cause affidavit details an escalating text exchange that began the previous afternoon. Clift allegedly sent threatening messages including "I'll see you soon" and a photo of the victim's car before the attack. The victim replied minutes before going outside.
Clift is being held without bond. Police said three vehicles at the scene had slashed tires, with damage estimated at $1,800. The knife used in the stabbing has not been recovered.
