The Virginia Supreme Court has ruled that a newly drawn congressional map favored by Democrats is unconstitutional, overturning the results of a special election and leaving the state with its previous boundaries.
The 4-3 decision issued on Friday found that the process for amending the state constitution violated the intervening-election requirement under Article XII, Section 1. The court stated that the approach taken by the Commonwealth undermined the integrity of the referendum vote and rendered it null and void.
