Williams team principal James Vowles has outlined the timeline for the team's car to reach its full capability. The FW48 is expected to show its true pace near the Azerbaijan Grand Prix later this season. The team continues to address excess weight through ongoing development.
Vowles stated that additional updates are scheduled for the Barcelona Grand Prix this weekend, with larger steps planned through the summer and beyond the August break. He noted that the current car remains overweight compared to targets, though progress has been made since the season start.
"We will be on the weight limit. It will just be further on in the season from now," Vowles said. Removing the extra weight is projected to deliver noticeable performance gains without other changes.
Williams sits eighth in the constructors' championship with 11 points. Vowles expects the team to continue climbing the order as the upgrades take effect toward Baku.
