The World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions is scheduled to open in Dalian from Tuesday to Thursday, drawing over 1,700 participants from more than 90 countries.
The gathering, held under the theme "Innovating at Scale," will examine China's economic path and ways to turn technological advances into broad economic gains. Sessions will cover Artificial Intelligence, robotics, personal AI agents, one-person companies and humanoid robots in factories.
China's AI sector has expanded rapidly, with more than 6,000 companies recorded in 2025 and a core industry value exceeding 1.2 trillion yuan. The country ranked third globally in AI venture capital, attracting 13.9 billion U.S. dollars that year.
Green practices will feature prominently at the event. New energy vehicles will make up more than 80 percent of the transport fleet, the main venue will run on green electricity, and seawater-source heat pumps are expected to cut energy use by over 30 percent.
Mayor Li Qiang of Dalian noted that these measures reflect the city's focus on clean and resource-efficient hosting. WEF President Alois Zwinggi said the meeting offers a chance to seek practical solutions amid economic uncertainty and technological change.
