China's Ministry of Education announced that the 2026 World Digital Education Conference will take place in Hangzhou. The event follows a press conference in Beijing this week outlining preparations and related youth programs.
Yang Jun, secretary-general of the China Education Association for International Exchange, said the World Digital Education Alliance has received membership applications from nearly 40 institutions. The alliance plans to select high-quality applicants to expand its global network.
From May 10 to 14, the alliance will host its first Global Youth Artificial Intelligence Study Camp in Hangzhou. The program will include 27 teams from 23 countries, with 48 international students and 33 Chinese students participating in lectures, projects and activities such as 3D modeling, programming and drone control.
On May 11 the alliance will convene its 2026 General Assembly along with council and standardization meetings. Participants will attend both online and in person to review work, optimize membership and plan future cooperation in digital education.
