Billy Joel has rejected a new biopic project focused on his early life, with a representative confirming that the singer has not authorized or supported the film in any way.
A biopic titled Billy & Me is in development to chronicle the musician's formative years before his rise to fame in the 1970s. The project will be told from the perspective of his first manager, Irwin Mazur, who discovered Joel in 1966 and signed him as a client in 1970. A spokesperson for Joel stated that the parties involved have been notified since 2021 that they lack the necessary life and music rights for the production.
