Donald Trump praises Nicki Minaj during White House speech

During a Black History Month event at the White House, President Donald Trump expressed admiration for rapper Nicki Minaj in his speech. The remarks highlighted her recent visits and support for his administration. Minaj has publicly positioned herself as one of his strongest supporters.

On February 18, 2026, at a White House reception in Washington, D.C., celebrating Black History Month, President Donald Trump spoke about Nicki Minaj, calling her 'beautiful' and stating, 'I love Nicki Minaj.' He recalled her presence a couple of weeks earlier, adding, 'She’s so beautiful... Her nails are like that long, I said, ‘Nicki are they real?’ She didn’t want to get into that. But she was so beautiful and so great and she gets it, more importantly.'

This comes amid Minaj's ongoing public support for Trump. On February 16, Presidents’ Day, she shared an AI-generated photo on social media depicting herself riding in a convertible with the president while counting money. That same day, February 18, Minaj spoke at the Trump-backed World Liberty Forum as a keynote for the panel 'Owning the Culture: The Business of Music in a Creator-Led Economy.'

Their first meeting occurred in January at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., where Minaj declared, 'I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan... And that’s not going to change. What people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more.' She added, 'We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him. And you know, the smear campaigns. It’s not going to work. He has a lot of force behind him and God is protecting him.'

Earlier in February, in an interview with podcaster Katie Miller, Minaj explained her stance: 'Religious freedom is something that’s very important to me, but if I’m being honest, President Trump... When I saw how he was being treated, over and over and over, I just couldn’t handle it.' Her support has drawn attention, including references in related media like Trevor Noah's Grammys monologue.
