A 73-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a serious car crash near Hessisch Lichtenau. Two other people were severely injured. Police suspect icy roads as the cause of the collision.
On Friday, a 57-year-old driver lost control of her car near Hessisch Lichtenau in the Werra-Meißner district, likely due to icy conditions. She veered into oncoming traffic and collided with an approaching vehicle, according to police reports.
The 73-year-old passenger in the other car succumbed to her severe injuries in the hospital. The 53-year-old driver of that vehicle and the 57-year-old were also seriously hurt and taken to nearby hospitals. A rescue helicopter was deployed to the scene.
