Senator Jinggoy Estrada posted bail on May 29 after an arrest warrant was issued in a graft case linked to flood control projects. The Sandiganbayan Second Division set the amount at P90,000. Hearings on the scandal are set to resume on June 4.
Estrada arrived at the Sandiganbayan at 4:09 pm on Friday and posted bail before leaving the court at 6:08 pm. He said he respects the rule of law and intends to defend himself through legal means. Former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan also posted P90,000 bail in the same case.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed graft and plunder charges against Estrada and Bonoan based on recommendations from the Department of Justice. The charges involve alleged irregularities in Department of Public Works and Highways projects for fiscal year 2025. Estrada faces three cases in total over the flood control scandal.
