The Ombudsman filed plunder charges against Senator Rodante Marcoleta over undeclared P75 million campaign donations. Marcoleta said he is prepared to go to jail if a warrant is issued.
The Ombudsman charged Marcoleta with plunder and violations of Presidential Decree No. 46 for receiving the P75 million in gifts while serving as a congressman. The amount was not listed in his COMELEC filings.
Marcoleta spent P112.9 million on his 2025 Senate campaign. The admitted P75 million covered nearly 67 percent of the total expenditures.
On June 30, Iglesia ni Cristo members held a rally at EDSA in support of Marcoleta. He told the crowd he did not steal public funds and was ready to face arrest.
Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian said Marcoleta now has the chance to defend himself in court.
