Xbox and Playground Games released a 30-minute uncut gameplay video for the Fable reboot on June 10. The demo highlights player actions affecting NPC opinions and world reactions through detailed reputation mechanics.
The video, uploaded to the official Fable YouTube channel, shows extended sequences of the open-world RPG. Players interact with unique NPCs, such as a talking pig named Colin facing slaughter, and make choices that build localized reputations like Virtuous or Rich. Associate directors Craig Littler and Will Kennedy led a behind-closed-doors demo after Xbox's summer showcase. They demonstrated buying homes and businesses, working jobs like blacksmithing, dating NPCs, and engaging in combat with abilities including fireballs and magical vines. The game features over 1,000 NPCs with personal moral codes and subjective views of the player. Reputations remain tied to specific towns and can be altered through actions or by paying town criers. Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23 for PS5, Xbox, Game Pass, and PC. Developers noted ongoing work on lip syncing and performance modes ahead of the early 2027 release window.
