Fabian Gunnarsson joins Fribourg-Gottéron as assistant coach

Fabian Gunnarsson has been appointed assistant coach at Fribourg-Gottéron in Switzerland. The 31-year-old Swede rejected interest from multiple SHL clubs to remain abroad.

Gunnarsson recently left his role with Rapperswil after one season. He had begun his coaching career in Mora IK before moving to Switzerland.

Three SHL clubs, Linköping, Örebro and Brynäs, considered Gunnarsson for assistant positions. All ultimately selected other candidates.

At Fribourg-Gottéron he will work under head coach Roger Rönnberg. The club won the most recent Swiss championship. A German club had also shown interest in the coach.
