Fabian Gunnarsson wird Assistenztrainer bei Fribourg-Gottéron

Fabian Gunnarsson wurde zum Assistenztrainer beim Schweizer Club Fribourg-Gottéron ernannt. Der 31-jährige Schwede lehnte Angebote mehrerer SHL-Clubs ab, um weiterhin im Ausland tätig zu sein.

Gunnarsson verließ kürzlich nach einer Saison seine Position bei Rapperswil. Seine Trainerkarriere hatte er bei Mora IK begonnen, bevor er in die Schweiz wechselte.

Drei SHL-Clubs – Linköping, Örebro und Brynäs – zogen Gunnarsson für Assistenzpositionen in Betracht. Alle entschieden sich letztlich für andere Kandidaten.

Bei Fribourg-Gottéron wird er unter Cheftrainer Roger Rönnberg arbeiten. Der Club gewann die jüngste Schweizer Meisterschaft. Auch ein deutscher Verein hatte Interesse an dem Trainer gezeigt.

Örebro Hockey has parted ways with head coach Niklas Eriksson after nearly ten years with the club. Martin Filander is reportedly set to become the new head coach. Eriksson expressed deep disappointment over the sudden split.

Rikard Franzén, a 58-year-old coach from AIK, will assist Switzerland's national ice hockey team at the upcoming home IIHF World Championship in Zürich. The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation announced on Monday that Franzén joins new head coach Jan Cadieux's staff. Franzén recently won the Swiss championship with Fribourg-Gottéron.
